PLASTIC-EATING BACTERIA EVOLVE

Green and blue bacteria.

As many as 10 different types of plastic could be degraded by plastic-eating microbes, reveals new research.

Published in the journal Microbial Ecology, the study shows that microbes in oceans and soils across the world are evolving to eat plastic and are developing in response to the amount and type of plastic pollution in different locations.
