The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is investigating environmental claims made for fashion products (including clothing, footwear and accessories) sold by ASOS, Boohoo and George at Asda.
The CMA is concerned that the use of vague and broad eco-statements, such as a product or its packaging being sustainable or better for the environment are being made with no evidence, or about the use of recycled or natural materials in a product and product ranges being branded as “sustainable”.
