FOOD-TO-GO NEEDS PLASTIC TO GO!

The food-to-go sector, which includes cafes, fast food outlets and coffee chains, is a huge source of plastic pollution.

Just how big the problem is is revealed by environmental campaigners City to Sea (the people behind the Refill initiative), who have published a new report: ‘Food-to-go. Good to go?’.

Based on an analysis of the UK’s top 20 high street food-to-go operators, the report offers an overview of the problem of single-use plastic in the sector, looks at the impact of Covid, and sets out steps to be taken by businesses and government to significantly reduce the amount of single use packaging used by the sector over the next five years.
