FREE PERIOD PRODUCTS

Young people in Flintshire can now obtain free period products through the post.

Flintshire County Council is working with social enterprise Hey Girls to make sustainable period products available free of charge to those aged 8-18 years who are attending school in the county.

Funded by the Welsh Government, the scheme aims to promote period dignity across Wales, with Denbighshire and Powys also signing up.

Quoted on Deeside.com, Councillor Christine Jones applauded the initiative, saying: “This sensitive issue is often a difficult and ‘taboo’ subject and young girls particularly can feel stigmatised and vulnerable. Being able to order products for free online, delivered to their home, will ensure that they do not miss out on any school time and they can participate fully in society.”
