If you’re fed up with Black Friday, you’re not alone.
More and more people and businesses are turning their backs on this US import, which is increasingly seen as promoting buying for buying’s sake, generating needless waste, and increasing the profits of big companies such as Amazon at the expense of local shops.
This year, some 85% of independent retailers are boycotting the event, reports The Guardian, with many closing their websites or making donations to charity.
