A new process can turn hard-to-recycle plastics into reusable materials.

Developed by Newcastle-based Impact Recycling, the water-based chemical recycling process produces material of such high quality that it ceases to be waste and instead becomes a secondary raw material.

The company’s latest innovation can sort rigid plastics by colour.

Described as a scalable solution that is easily integrated into existing recycling plans, the process should enable recycling companies to increase the volumes of waste that they process.
