MICROPLASTICS IN WATER

Water

An environmentalist from North Wales is helping show that microplastics are present in waterways throughout the UK.

Laura Owen Sanderson, who founded the non-profit We Swim Wild organisation, has persuaded more than 100 wild swimmers to collect water samples from rivers, lakes, canals and reservoirs as part of the Waterloggers project.

Samples analysed at Bangor University showed that microplastics were present in all of them.
