NO MORE BAGS FOR LIFE

Waitrose is phasing out its 10p ‘bags for life’ after research showed that they were increasingly being used only once.

From 27 September, shoppers will be asked to supply their own bags, with those who don’t being offered reusable bags priced from 50p.

The supermarket is also stopping the delivery of online grocery orders in plastic bags, a move that will, it says, save 40 million plastic bags.

More details are given in this company press release.
