Cutting plastic pollution is among a number of measures agreed by representatives from over 100 countries during the recent One Ocean Summit.

Hosted by France’s president, Emmanuel Macron, the event aimed to translate “shared responsibility to the ocean into tangible commitments”.

Attended in person by some 40 world leaders, and virtually by many more, the summit saw the European Union’s 27 member states and 16 other countries agree to pursue a global agreement by the end of 2022 – which M Macron described as “a decisive year”.

The event was covered by The Guardian.
