PERIOD PANTS Q&A

Period blood on white underwear.

Some 200,000 tonnes of sanitary products are estimated to end up in UK landfills every year.

Sanitary products are also washed up more widely on beaches than single-use coffee cups, plastic cutlery or plastic straws.

One way of reducing menstruation-related plastic waste is to use “period pants”.

With an increasing number of women interested in trying this reusable option, Wendy Graham of the Moral Fibres sustainable living blog has written a period pants guide, answering questions such as:

  • What are period pants?
  • Are they comfortable to wear?
  • How long can you wear them for?
  • Do they ever leak?

Wendy has first-hand experience of using Wuka period pants, but also recommends trying Modibodi and Marks & Spencer versions.
