PLASTIC-FREE TAKEAWAYS

The Naked Takeaway initiative gained some useful media coverage recently with an article in The Leader.

Six local businesses are trialling the scheme, which offers takeaway customers reusable food containers in place of the usual plastic or cardboard ones.

Customers can opt to use tiffin tins (a set of stainless steel stacking tins) or aluminium pizza boxes at the following takeaways: Alexander’s Pizza, Asia Sensation, Club Spice, Spoons and Forks, and The Gathering (all in Mold) and On the Corner Café (Caerwys).

“Our aim is to raise awareness of plastic pollution generally and to offer people alternatives to throwaway and single-use,” Sam Hubbard, of Mold Plastic Reduction group, told The Leader.

Litter is also related to on-the-go food and drinks containers, she added, so a shift to reusable should help to improve that situation as well.
