Innovative projects are trying to stop plastic waste reaching finding its way into the sea.
Following a call by scientists to stop plastic entering rivers in the first place, barriers and clean-up devices are being used to tackle the problem.
Among the ideas being piloted are the Great Bubble Barrier and Mr Trash Wheel, which take very different approaches to stopping plastic floating away to the sea, as explained in this article from The Guardian.
