WALKING GEAR SWAP

Outdoors enthusiasts can pick up bargain coats, waterproofs, base layers, boots, hats, rucksacks and other gear thanks to an initiative from local charity Outside Lives.

An outdoor clothing swap (“swish”) event at Mold Rugby Club on Wednesday 27 October will give people the chance to get rid of kit they no longer want and grab something more to their liking.

Although Outdoor Lives highlights the cost of walking kit and the need to reduce it going to landfill, it’s also worth noting that much of it is plastic-based. While it’s pretty obvious that waterproof jackets and rucksacks are made of plastic, it’s less well known that the ubiquitous fleece jacket is also usually made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

If you’re interested in swishing some kit, the event is on from 10.00-12.00 and you don’t have to donate kit in order to join in.
