WREXHAM MAELOR CUTS PLASTIC

Emergency sign outside hospital.

An article on the Wrexham.com website highlights how Wrexham Maelor Hospital is cutting back on its use of plastic water bottles.

In a move said to be saving 80 tonnes of CO2 and £75,000 annually, the hospital’s Green Group has launched a safe drinking water scheme in all clinical areas.

Noting that Covid had seen “a wave” of 500ml plastic bottles finding their way into the Maelor’s waste stream, Green Group spokesperson Ellie McCance said she’s delighted that fewer bottles of water will be used by staff and patients.
